2016 Screen Music Awards Nomination - Best Song

SeanScreenNomI'm really thrilled to be noinated for Best Original Song Composed For the Screen, with my song "Little Bear" from Maurice's Big Adventure. Although I've been nominated a number of times for children's television over the last few years, this is my first nomination in this category.

Little Bear is sung by Justine Clarke and Miranda Tapsell, and features guitar from Glen Hannah. The song (and show) is about a child taking their first steps. Massive thanks to Sarah Dabro and Jan Stradling from the ABC, and to Colin Thrupp and Mel Rogan from Fredbird. The awards are held November 4 - 2016.

Hoot Hoot Go!

Hoot-Hoot-Go-postHoot, Hootabelle, and Hootly are three best owl pals – working together and solving problems for their best buddies, Hootaluna, Gigglefangs and Pirate Hootbeard. We created a whole magical and musical world for Hoot Hoot Go, with the music working hand in hand with the unique visual hybrid of puppetry and animation.

Yaaar! The Giggle and Hoot Pirate Special

PirateHootbeardThrilled to be nominated for a fourth time for the AGSC and APRA Screen music awards for Best Music For Children’s Television. “The Legend of Pirate Hootbeard” is a rollicking epic orchestral adventure as Jimmy Giggle, Hoot and Hootabelle sail the Giggle Seas to help Pirate Hootbeard find his lost treasure.

The music allowed me to get my orchestral chops sharpened, as I tried to make a completely over the top rollicking John Williamsesque adventure.

The Score includes 2 songs “The Piratey Pirate Hootbeard” and “Sailing The Giggle Seas” which became music vids in their own right – but I think the full adventure is the true cinematic experience you’ve been craving – even if you don’t know it yet. Sit back and enjoy “The Legend of Pirate Hootbeard”. Check it out over the break!

Play Along With Sam

PlayAlongWithSam-D11 MR-55Sam Moran is the host of Nick Jr’s Play Along With Sam, and the show has bounced from success to success. Essentially a one hander to camera, the show capitalises on Sam’s genuine good humour and warmth, with great Aria Award winning songs (by Sam and others) and terrific set pieces.

Season 4 saw us try long (30 minutes) form with a series of themed episodes from Christmas to Halloween. It also allowed us to travel outside of the studio in our “All Around The World” episode. All of the variety in these eps allowed me to try a whole different musical vocab, outside of the standard Play Along With Sam underscore we did for Seasons 3 and 5.

Jade Barnes and a group of awesomely talented kids provided the perfect foil for Sam, and the whole thing was directed and produced by the amazing Andy Shaw and Shaun Walsh. Play Along With Sam season 4 has been nominated for a Logie for Most Outstanding Children’s Televison.

Play School Play Time App

screen480x480Brought my Playschool Piano chops out for the new ABC app. Humpty is having an awesome day and playing through a whole bunch of amazing activities. I may have been a little naughty on one of the cues in the App. If you have young kids and an ipad, grab the app and head to the Ball activitiy – you may hear a sneaky shoutout to my favourite footy team J

The App was selected by Apple as most invoative kids app for 2013 - nice work to everyone invovled!
